The VIP Lounge - Punta Cana

When We Visited: March 2026

How We Got In: The Chase Sapphire Reserve Card & The Chase Sapphire Reserve Card for Business, and the American Express Platinum Card, all of which come with the Priority Pass and lounge access.

Overview: This is by far one of the nicest lounges I’ve been too. There are several VIP Lounges at the Punta Cana airport, but we went to the one in Terminal B located near gate 30. It is a massive, beautiful lounge over looking the tarmac. There is ample seating inside the lounge, so finding a seat for a large group was no problem. They have a designated kids area with small play structures. But the highlight of the lounge is definitely the pool.

That’s right, the VIP Lounge at Punta Cana has a pool! In fact, there are 3 lounges at this airport, with access to each lounge limited to the terminal you are flying out of. But fear not! All 3 lounges have pools!

After spending almost a week at the beach and in the resort pools, we didn’t make full use of the pool at the lounge. The kids were happy to just get their feet wet and we were happy to sit outside on the patio watching planes take off.

Tip: If you do plan on taking a proper swim in the pool, let them know when you check into the lounge. They have towels downstairs at the check in desk and they will ask you to leave your passport in exchange for towels. Asking for a towel up front will save you a second trip downstairs later.

While this lounge is beautiful, it does have a few drawbacks. First, they say your access to the lounge is limited to 2 hours, regardless of departure time. We weren’t there for the full 2 hours, so we didn’t get to test this out to see how strict they are with the time limit. They also limit alcoholic drinks to 2 per person, after that you are charged for each additional drink. Plus, they offer standard drinks free of charge (beer, wine, mixed drinks) but charge for premium drinks like sparkling wine and top-shelf spirits. I was surprised when I asked for a glass of sparkling wine and was told that there was a charge for it. There was airport construction while we were there so the view of the tarmac from the pool had some construction in the background, but this is obviously temporary. Finally, the food was just ok. I’m not sure I really count this as a drawback since all lounge food tends to be just ok, but thought it was worth mentioning.

My assessment: While I may not take advantage of the pool in this lounge and regret the time and drink limits, I’d look forward to another visit if I happened to be in the Dominican Republic again. It is definitely worth a visit.
