The Laurel Inn
When we went: February 2026
What we paid: $0 | 20,000 points per night | 20,000 points total
Overview: We booked one night at the Laurel Inn in the Presidio neighborhood of San Francisco. We had tickets to see Demetri Martin at the Palace of Fine Arts and decided to make a staycation out of it.
I was pleasantly surprised by our at The Laurel Inn room given that the lobby felt a little run down. The Inn has been remodeled in a 50’s retro style, but the lobby showed some small signs of the building’s old age. This was less true of our room, which had been beautifully remodeled. As a globalist, I was upgraded to a suite upon arrival and the room was very nice. It was sizable, with a sitting area, kitchenette, and large bathroom. Perhaps my favorite feature was our large window with a view of the city.
Tip: Always ask for an upgrade! If you are a World of Hyatt member, you might be eligible for an upgraded room when you check in, so it’s always a good idea to ask if there are any room upgrades available with your membership. And if you aren’t a World of Hyatt Member, sign up! It’s free and comes with perks as you accumulate Hyatt stays.
One other thing to note, The Laurel in doesn’t have its own kitchen, so they partner with a deli at the Jewish Community Center across the street to provide free breakfast to Globalists. This does mean that you have to leave the hotel and cross the street if you want breakfast. But, the voucher was good all day, so we didn’t have to rush to get breakfast by a certain time like you typically have to do for the free hotel breakfast. They had a selection of bagel sandwiches, and both sandwiches we tried were good.
My Assessment: This was a very nice hotel and I’d be happy to stay here again for another night out in the Presidio neighborhood of San Francisco.
